Detour begins Monday for Fillmore Road

Friday, November 24, 2006

The City of Greencastle is announcing the need for a detour regarding Fillmore Road starting on Monday, Nov. 27.

Construction is set to start on the extension of County Road 50 South to the west of the intersection. Work will also take place along the west side of Fillmore Road with the addition of a traffic lane and sanitary sewer.

The city is working with the contractor, M & D Excavating of Bainbridge, to minimize the time that the road will be closed. Fillmore Road will be closed until further notice depending on weather and work schedules. The closing is designed to ensure the safety of the public and the safety of construction crews.

The contractor has agreed to provide access for emergency vehicles in the area. Local access is available to Lear and Nova Solutions from Fillmore Road. Access to the properties on CR 50 South is available from CR 300 East.

Local residents are being asked to follow the detour signs or use alternate routes when traveling between Fillmore, Heritage Lake, and Greencastle. Alternate routes can include Right-of-Way Road, U.S. 36, and Ind. 240.

A detour has been posted using Ind. 240, Round Barn Road, Range Line Road, and CR 300 East. City officials request that the public use caution and abide by posted speed limits along the detour routes to ensure everyone's safety.
