South Putnam 3-2 at invitational

MONROVIA -- The South Putnam High School wrestling team competed in the Monrovia Invitational Saturday, coming away with three wins and two losses.

The Eagles knocked off Speedway, 67-12, and also beat Cascade, 42-30. In addition, South Putnam defeated North Putnam, 50-24.

The Eagles lost to Monrovia, 47-27, and also fell to Brown County, 51-18.

For the Eagles, Jon Parker finished 5-0 at 152 pounds while Logan Kinney was 4-1 at 135 pounds.

Chris Hurst also was 4-1 at 215 pounds.

Hunter Edwards (189 pounds), Brandon Vaughn (112 pounds), Eric Hunter (119 pounds), Seth Green (125 pounds), Antonio Hernandez (130 pounds), Jacob Parrish (160 pounds and Jermiah Parrish (171 pounds) all were 3-2 in the tournament.

Andy Peyton was 2-3 in the heavyweight division while John Spencer (140 pounds) and D.J. Adams (145 pounds) each picked up one win.

The Eagles face North Putnam again on the road Wednesday, beginning at 6 p.m.
