Walking for Wellness reaches goal

Organizers of Putnam County's Walking for Wellness program say the group has reached its goal to walk around in the world in terms of miles.

More than 600 people from all parts of the county participated in the program, including those from Russellville, Roachdale, Bainbridge, Fillmore, Reelsville, Cloverdale, DePauw and Greencastle.

Putnam County citizens have reported walking a total of 64,501,093 steps, or 32,251 miles, meaning they have met the goal to walk the distance around the world by Dec. 31.

Walkers can, and are encouraged, to keep reporting their numbers until the end of the year by either e-mailing to: putnamwalks@purdue.edu or by calling 653-8411.
