Spirit of Philanthropy goes to Bohmers

The most prestigious honor granted by the Community Foundation was awarded last night to Dave and Lynn Bohmer.

The announcement was made at the Foundation's annual holiday celebration in the community room at the Putnam County Museum.

"Dave and Lynn Bohmer epitomize the spirit of philanthropy," said Sue Murray, President of the Community Foundation. "Many people are not even aware of the extent and impact of their generosity in this community."

Lynn has been involved in a variety of service organizations, including the Reading Improvement Center and the Community Foundation, where she served for six years on the Board of Directors and for two years as president. Under her visionary leadership and influence, the Community Foundation established the Share the Dream program, the Non-Profit Capacity Building Initiative, the Education Initiative, and a three-year strategic plan moving the Foundation to the next level of community service, and toward becoming self-sustaining.

Dave is a Greencastle Rotarian, and has served as President of several vitally important community organizations, including the United Way of Putnam County, the Greencastle/Putnam County Development Center, and the Putnam County Democrats.

The couple established and support the Millennium Club, a leadership giving program for the United Way that created a strong new source of revenue for the organization.

"Dave and Lynn Bohmer give generously of their time, talent and treasure to this community," Murray said. "They are a team, and our community has been enriched beyond words by their contributions."
