Medford R. "Snowball" McBride

Medford R. "Snowball" McBride, 79, Greencastle, died Tuesday at Putnam County Hospital.

Born in Putnam County, he was the son of Frank and Myrtle (Masten) McBride. He married Betty J. O'Neal on July 23, 1951, and she survives.

He was a 1945 graduate of Bainbridge High School and worked as a farmer and construction worker for 44 years, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of Brick Chapel United Methodist Church, Carpenters Union Local 859, was a 33rd Degree Mason with Bainbridge Masonic Lodge, member of Scottish Rite, Indianapolis, and served on the North Putnam School Board for eight years.

Additional survivors include a son, Ed McBride and wife Rhonda, Russellville; three daughters, Brenda J. McBride, Greencastle, Robin L. McGill and husband Larry, Muncie, and Kimberly A. Kelly and husband Jay, Grapevine, Texas; two sisters, Evelyn Sutherlin and husband Richard, Acworth, Ga., and Gail Robinson, Plainfield; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Rexford McBride and Orman O'Hair, sisters Thelma Hess, Jean Bachert and infant sister Lyndal Beth McBride.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Paul Taylor, Steve Williams and Tim Matthews officiating. Burial will be at Brick Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.
