North Putnam girls fall to Wildcats

CLINTON -- The North Putnam Cougars' girls varsity basketball team collected their seventh loss of the season as they fell to South Vermillion Thursday night at South Vermillion, 56-46.

Despite being out score the first three quarters, the Cougars' made a game of it as they outscored the Wildcats 15-16 in the fourth quarter.

The Cougars were led in scoring by Carlye McGaughey with 11 points which included two from beyond the arc.

She was followed by Elsiana Crosby and Shawna Johnston with eight points and Taylor Alles chipped in six points.

South Vermillion were led by a trio of double-figure scorers led by Caitlin Phillips with 16 points. Megan Ballock was close behind with 13 points and Jenni McLeish netted 10 points.

In junior varsity action, North Putnam defeated South Vermillion 45-38.

North Putnam (1-7) plays at North Vermillion next Tuesday.
