The 2006 All-West Central Conference football team was announced Tuesday morning, and 13 Putnam County athletes were named to the squad.

The North Putnam Cougars, who finished the season at 13-1 including a 6-0 mark in WCC play, posted six players to the team.

Seniors Brayden Dahlstrom, Emmett Boruff, Shane Diebold and Jake Mullis were all named to the team, as was junior Adam Vondersaar and sophomore Griffen Dahlstrom.

Brayden Dahlstrom was named the quarterback for the Class 2A All-State team, and Mullis earned an honorable mention.

The Cougars were undefeated through the regional championship round but lost to Southridge in semistate action Nov. 18.

Four players represent Greencastle on the All-Conference team, and all four were seniors.

Quarterback Cal Gard and wide receiver Michael Richardson both made the squad, just two weeks after Richardson was named a first-team Class 3A All-State selection and Gard was made an honorable mention.

Also making the All-WCC roster from Greencastle were Chad Nichols and Brian Troyer.

Troyer was also an All-State selection.

Two players from Cloverdale made the squad.
