Tiger women take down Webster

WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. -- The fifth-ranked DePauw University women's basketball team dismantled and humiliated the Webster Gorloks, 94-51.

DePauw opened the game on a 25-0 run to grab a commanding lead and dominate the Gorlacks from the beginning. Four players scored in double figures for DePauw.

Cassie Pruzin led the Tigers with 19 points and 10 rebounds. She narrowly missed a triple-double, lacking just three steals. She also tallied career bests of 10 assists and seven steals. Caitlin McGonigal score 15 points off the bench and grabbed three rebounds.

Liz Bondi and Emily Marshall score 10 points each and combined for seven rebounds in the contest. Kalei Lowes and Gretchen Hoyle scored eight points to help led the DePauw charge.

Suzy Doughty recorded two steals and broke the steals record for DePauw in steals at 222 breaking the old record of 221 set by Marlene McQueary

The Gorloks were led by Danielle Tiller scoring 18 points. Martine Wiley helped by scoring 11 points and collecting four rebounds and two steals.

Julie McGirl and Dana Vahey scored seven points each and dished out eight assists.

The Tigers ignited the stat sheet shooting 61 percent from the floor, 60 percent from the 3-point area and 69 percent from the free throw line.

On the flip side, Webster shot 41 percent from the floor, 27 percent from beyond the arc and 57 percent from the free throw line.

Another glaring difference was in the assists department. DePauw dished it out 31 times during game and Webster could only manage 12.

The DePauw Tigers will travel to compete in the Surf 'n Slam Tournament in San Diego Dec. 28-30. DePauw will face Kenyon in the first round Dec. 28.
