City supports Colts with 'Bluecastle' designation

Greencastle Mayor Nancy Michael signed a proclamation Wednesday declaring Friday as Blue Friday in the city. In celebration and support of the Indianapolis Colts in their trip to Super Bowl XLI, cake and blue Gatorade will be served in city hall Friday to the first 100 visitors.

The mayor's proclamation states:

Whereas, the Indianapolis Colts are the AFC Champion with a season record of 15-4 and will play the NFC Champion Chicago Bears (15-3) at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., on Sunday in Super Bowl XLI; and

Whereas, Indianapolis and Indiana became the new home to the Colts team in 1984; and

Whereas, the Irsay family has brought to our Hoosier State the likes of Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, Dwight Freeney, Marvin Harrison, Jeff Saturday and Adam Vinatieri; and

Whereas, Coach Tony Dungy has brought so much to Indiana, with such statistics as eight career double-digit victory seasons; and being the first coach to defeat all 32 NFL teams; and

Whereas, the Colts made three AFC Championship Games since 1995, and have made the playoffs every season since 2002, and advanced to the Super Bowl with a 38-34 victory over the New England Patriots; and

Whereas, our Colts will be victorious over the Chicago Bears, but we would like to wish Bloomington native and Chicago Bears quarterback Rex Grossman a game to be proud of;

Now, therefore, I Nancy A. Michael, Mayor, City of Greencastle, along with the BannerGraphic, do hereby proclaim Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, as Blue Friday and in honor of Blue Friday, the City of Greencastle shall be known as Bluecastle. We therefore, encourage our citizens to sit back and enjoy watching the Indianapolis Colts make Super Bowl 2007 a historical event in our nation.
