Vallie M. Head

Vallie M. Head, 73, Brazil, died Wednesday at Clay County Health Center.

Born in Rockville, she was the daughter of Roy and Ora (Coombs) Powell.

She had worked at Windbreaker, Howard Johnson hotel in Brazil as a desk clerk, Holly Hill Nursing Home, and Stinsons Nursing Home, as a caregiver and operated an in-home babysitting service for many years. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

She married Gilbert Head on June 15, 1949. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Anita McCracken and husband Bill, Jasonville, and Norma Head and friend Carol Rollo, Brazil; sons, Gilbert Ray Head Jr. and Roy Allen Head and wife Teresa, all of Brazil; sisters Loretta Jenkins and Mildred Coleman; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Sherry Archer, a grandson, sisters Dorthy Taylor, Demma Davis, Gladys Williams and Lenora Head, and brother Forest Lancaster.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at French Funeral Home, Brazil, with Rev. Curtis Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Calcutta Cemetery.

Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Sunday.
