James M. Wilkins 62, Cloverdale, died Saturday at the Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle.

Born in Indianapolis, he was the son of Edward A. Ketchum and Celesta (Potter) Ketchum.

He was a college graduate and U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. In the past he had worked at the Indiana Youth Center as a guard. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association.

He married Sharon Tharp on Nov. 30, 1969. She survives.

Also surviving are his parents Ed and Celesta Ketchum, Morristown; son Jeffrey Wilkins and wife Wendy, Cloverdale; daughters Celesta Rose Whitaker and husband Jeff, Roachdale, and Jayme Lee Trueblood and husband Daniel, Putnamville; nine grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his biological father LeRoy Wilkins Sr. and brother LeRoy Wilkins Jr.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Todd Funeral Home, Rushville, with Pastor Peggy Caldwell officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Arlington East Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
