Nominations sought for person, educator

Mental Health America of Putnam County is currently soliciting nominations for its annual awards for Person and Educator of the Year.

The Mental Health America Person of the Year award recognizes an individual in the community who has shown outstanding dedication to improving mental health and wellness of individuals and families and who tirelessly promotes the mission of Mental Health America of Putnam County.

The Mental Health America Educator of the Year award recognizes an educator in Putnam County who has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the mental health and wellness of children, families and fellow education professionals.

All nominations should be sent to the MHAPC office, 10 N. Jackson St., Greencastle, 46135, or may be e-mailed to mhapc2@ccrtc.com no later than April 13.

Recipients of the Person of the Year award in the past years have included Lucy Wieland, Ruth Ralph, Diana LaViolette and Charity Pankratz. Past winners of the Educator of the Year award include Robert Harbison, Marti Jackson and Becky Brothers.

The awards will be presented at 6:30 p.m. May 1 at the organization's annual meeting. The location will be announced at a later date.

In addition to the awards, there will be a program and a presentation of the Junior Mental Health America "Puppet Power" program. Refreshments will be served at the meeting.
