Murl Taylor, 59, Martinsville, died Tuesday at his residence.

Born in Liberty, Ky., he was the son of Robert and Anna (Lawhorn) Taylor.

He had been employed at Diamond Chain in Indianapolis as a machine repairman for 34 years. He was a member of the Baptist church, United Steelworkers Union 1999 and Tri-County Pulling Association. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

On Sept. 30, 1970 he married Debbie J. Taylor. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Quentin Taylor and Jason Taylor, both of Martinsville; two daughters, Angela Gibson, Martinsville, and Kelly Gaskins, Camby; brother Alan Taylor, Martinsville; stepbrother Earl Taylor, Martinsville; two stepsisters, June Lewis, Cloverdale, and Syletta Rouse, Stilesville; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Neal and Summers Mortuary, Martinsville, with burial in West Union Cemetery, Monrovia.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Friday.
