DANVILLE, Ill. -- Greencastle High School graduate Lyndie Alspaugh helped the Danville Area Community College softball team in a two-game sweep of Spoon River College on Tuesday.

Alspaugh picked up her third win of the season in game one, pitching seven innings and giving up two runs on 10 hits. She is 3-6 on the year with a 2.95 ERA.

Besides pitching, Alspaugh also plays first base and third base for the Jaguars. At the plate, she went a combined 6-for-9 in the two contests, scoring three runs and driving in two more. She leads the team with a .370 average and 17 hits. She is second on the team with 7 RBI.

"Lyndie is our team leader both on the field and off. She has pitched exceptionally well all season. Unfortunately, we haven't helped her out defensively or her record would be 8-1 overall," DACC coach Jimmie Evans said.

Since DACC is a junior college, Alspaugh is in her last year playing for the Jaguars as only a sophomore. Evans is not ready to see her go.

"She is a tremendous competitor. We are definitely going to miss her competitiveness next season," Evans said.
