Clovers split in triangular meet

CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale boys' and girls' track teams split on Thursday night at home against Cascade and Tri-West. The girls won their meet, but the boys came in second on the night.

The girls captured eight events on the night to finish in first place.

Ashley Higgins won the 200 meter in a time of 28.21 and Alyssa Williams finished first in the 1,600 meter with a time of 6:13. Brynlea Mattocks won the 400 meter in a time of 1:05.3 while Jenna Lewis won the 3,200 with a time of 13:26.

Ashley Koosman won the high jump with a leap of 5'2" and the long jump leaping 14'11.5" on the night. Elizabeth Cheatham won the shot put, throwing a distance of 32'8".

The Clovers also won the 1,600 relay with a time of 4:45.

For the boys, CHS grabbed six event wins to take second place.

Nick Keefer won the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 16.2 and the 300 hurdles in a time of 43.7.

Christian Cheatham won the high jump with a height of 5'10" and Dylan Stone won the shot put, with a distance of 46'8".

The Clovers also captured both relays with wins in the 1,600 with a time of 3:44 and 400 meter relay with a time of 46.8.

The Clovers will hit the track again Tuesday as they travel to Clay City at 4:30 p.m.
