Tiger Cubs have 17 top seeds at County

All county track teams will converge at South Putnam High School today to take part in the 2007 Putnam County meet.

Greencastle is leading the charge with 17 No. 1 seeds.

The GHS girls scored No. 1 seeds in each of the three relays. The 3,200 relay team posted a seed time of 10:41.00 while the 1,600 meter relay time is 4:13.20 and the 400 meter relay's time is 49.40.

Hannah Serlin will lead the way in the 1,600 meter with the time of 5:27.00 and the 800 meter with a time of 2:27.00. Laura Weatherford will pace the 400 meter with seed time 1:00.00. Jamie Patterson captured the No. 1 in both the 100 with a time of 12.52 and 200 meters with the time of 25.80.

Greencastle also dominates the field events with Bethany Schroeder grabbing the long jump with a distance of 16-3 1/2, Caitlin Gannaway the shot put with a distance of 36-8 and Jennie Peart in the pole vault with the height of 8-9.

For the GHS boys, the 3,200 meter relay team seed time of 8:25.70 and the 400 relay time of 45.60 were both good for top spots.

Andy Weather-ford will lead the way for Greencastle in both the 1,600 and the 800 meter runs. Weatherford's times are 4:13.00 and 1:56.90, respectively. Mark Jedele is the No. 1 seed in the 3,200 meter with the time of 10:15.00 and Ashton Marshall is tops in the 200 meter with the time of 23.60. Nick Walkosak's 10-0 in the pole vault was also the top seed height.

South Putnam has four athletes grabbing No. 1 spots.

For the South girls, Shelby Johnston will lead the way in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.45, while Shannon Egold will do the same in the 3,200 in a time of 13:06.00 and Brittany Cox has the honors in the discus with the distance of 96-0. Allen Riddell is tops in the 300 hurdles with a time of 43.00.

The South boys' 400 meter relay time matches Greencastle's 49.40 to share top honors.

The Clovers have five events in which they will be the target of the other schools.

Kabe Mattocks received the top seed time in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.14, while Christian Cheatham has the No. 1 seed in the high jump with the height of 6-4 1/2 and Dylan Stone in the shot put with the distance of 46-5. The boys' 1,600 relay team's top seed time is 3:42.00.

Ashley Koosman grabbed the honor in the girls' high jump with a distance of 5-4.

North Putnam will be sending four athletes with top seed honors to South Putnam today.

Craig Wood will lead the Cougar charge, as he grabbed top seed times in the 100 and the 400 meters. His times are 11.30 and 54.00 respectively. In field events, Jerrett Ban will lead the way in the long jump with a distance of 21-0 and Griffen Dahlstrom will do the same in the discus, with a distance of 128-0.
