Heavin sworn in as new Warren Trustee

Karen Nelson Heavin was recently sworn in as the new Warren Township Trustee, replacing the late Bill Birdsell.

Heavin was sworn in Friday at the Putnam County Courthouse. Birdsell died March 21, 2007.

She was appointed to fill out Birdsell's term. He had been reelected in November to serve until 2011. According to Heavin, Birdsell had served as Warren Township Trustee for nearly 20 years.

"We wanted to get the word out that there was a new trustee," Heavin said Friday. "And if there are any issues, (people) can contact me."

Heavin graduated from South Putnam High School in 1991 and from Franklin College in 1996.

She is married to Dr. Anthony Heavin, who practices medicine at Union Hospital, Terre Haute.

The couple have two children, Garrett, 5, and 2-year-old Brock.
