Recent Greencastle High School graduate Sydni Fisher will begin cheering with the the Crimson and Cream cheer squad this fall.

Staff reports

Since she was a little girl, Sydni Fisher dreamed of cheering for Indiana University and this fall her dream will come true.

It turns out that Friday the 13th is definitely lucky for Fisher as she advanced to the second day of tryouts and eventually learned she would become part on the Cream and Crimson cheer squads. Although she'd dreamed of the moment for years, it proved to be too surreal for the GHS senior.

"I was in disbelief," Fisher said. But once it sank in and I realized I made it, I was excited because this had been my dream and goal for so long."

Fisher's cheer coach, Lori Shuck, could hardly contain herself as she described the feelings of coaching and seeing Fisher succeed. A major factor in her unmistakable pride is the fact that she is also Fisher's mother.

"Sydni is certainly looking forward to the challenge of cheerleading at a Division I college," Shuck commented. "I feel her desire and love for the sport will get her through any tough times she may come up against."

"The one goal the seniors have set for the team this year is to win the title of National Champions," Fisher said. "Last year they placed fourth. So my goal is to be work hard and help my team be the best we can be."

Fisher will join the Crimson and Cream cheer squad this summer.
