Putnam County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* John Delman Grigsby, 38, Francesville, was booked in at 4:23 p.m. Thursday for criminal recklessness. He was arrested at PCJ.

* Charles Gene Artressia, 20, Greencastle, was booked in at 5:17 a.m. Friday for theft. He was arrested at PCJ.

* David William Thompson, 20, Brazil, was booked in at 10:20 a.m. Friday on a petition to revoke probation. He was arrested at PCJ.

* Christopher Loughmiller, 21, Brazil, was booked in at 11:01 a.m. Friday on a petition to revoke probation. He was arrested at PCJ.

* Shawn Allen Smith, 28, Terre Haute, was booked in at 4:23 p.m. Friday for contempt of court. He was released at 8:55 p.m. after posting bond.

* Christopher Lee Hamblin, 22, Greencastle, was booked in at 5:25 p.m. Friday for driving without a license and a petition to revoke probation. He was released at 3:48 p.m. Monday.

* Christopher Carlson, 40, Indianapolis, was booked in at 6:01 p.m. Friday on a court order. He was arrested at PCJ.

* Corey Len Duff, 29, Greencastle, was booked in at 11:13 p.m. Friday for disorderly conduct and batter. He was arrested by Greencastle Officer Charles Inman.

* Michael W. Lady, 34, Greencastle, was booked in at 11:54 p.m. Friday for failure to appear in court. He was arrested by Officer Inman.

* Tamara Ann Ford, 20, Greencastle, was booked in at 5:28 a.m. Saturday for public intoxication, violation of home detention, possession of alcohol by a minor and disorderly conduct. She was arrested by Deputy Tom Helmer.

* Jamie Trivett, 20, Gosport, was arrested at 7:57 a.m. Saturday for battery and driving while intoxicated. Trivett was released at 4:11 p.m. Monday after posting bond.

* Travis Matthew Rambo, 29, Cloverdale, was arrested at 8:11 a.m. Saturday for interfering with reporting a crime and violation of home detention. He was arrested by Deputy Ron Campbell.

* Jerramy Joe Bushong, 20, Fillmore, was booked in at 9:12 p.m. Saturday on a petition to revoke probation. He was arrested by Officer Inman.

* John Brackett, 47, Indianapolis, was booked in at 11:32 p.m. Saturday for public intoxication. He was released at 3:47 p.m. Monday.

* Jeffrey Allen Joiner, 22, Canton, Ohio, was booked in at 1:54 a.m. Sunday for public intoxication and possession of marijuana. He was arrested by Officer Inman.

* Alan Rafeld, 25, Massillion, Ohio, was booked in at 2:35 a.m. Sunday for public intoxication. He was released at 3:45 p.m. Monday.

* Matthew B. Whitaker, 32, Indianapolis, was booked in at 3:07 a.m. Sunday for public intoxication. He was released at 11 p.m. Sunday after posting bond.

* Aaron Joseph Herd, 22, Avon, was booked in at 8:45 a.m. Monday on a petition to revoke probation. He was released at 3:52 p.m. Monday.

* Jeffrey Scott Glass, 37, Coatesville, was booked in at 9:46 a.m. Monday for battery. He was arrested at PCJ.

* Brandy L. Turner, 34, Cloverdale, was booked in at 11:06 a.m. Monday on a petition to revoke probation. She was arrested by Civil Deputy Mike O'Hair.

* Charles Irving Ward, 23, Greencastle, was booked in at 3:03 p.m. Monday for battery with bodily injury to a person less than age 14. He was arrested by Officer Bunten.

* Dallas Maynard-Johnson, 22, Poland, was booked in at 9:23 p.m. Monday for public intoxication, false reporting or informing and driving while intoxicated. He was arrested by Deputy Doug Nally.

* Robert Anthony Bell, 22, Indianapolis, was booked in at 2:53 a.m. Tuesday on a petition to revoke probation. He was arrested at PCJ.

* Jason Buford Ison, 24, Indianapolis, was booked in at 3:13 a.m. Tuesday on a petition to revoke probation. He was arrested at PCJ.

Sheriff's Dept.

A driver fled the scene of an 11:15 a.m. Sunday crash on U.S. 231 near Ind. 42.

* Sgt. Tom Helmer reported that a 1995 Chevrolet minivan had been involved in an accident on Ind. 42 at the Cataract Bridge construction site and had fled the scene. A witness followed the vehicle to obtain information from the driver, who went eastbound on Ind. 42 and crossed U.S. 231 south of Cloverdale.

The minivan turned around and returned to U.S. 231, turning north. The van entered a ditch and turned onto its side. The female driver fled the scene, but passenger Michael B. Whitaker was arrested for public intoxication.

Damage was estimated as $5,000-$10,000.

* At 11:33 p.m Sunday, two vehicles collided in the Taco Bell parking lot on Indianapolis Road.

Sgt. Tom Helmer reported that Nicholas A. Bright, 18, 7475 E. CR 600 South, Greencastle, was driving a 1999 Ford Contour in the parking lot when he stopped in front of a 1994 Mazda parked in the lot. Bright said he was trying to find out from the other driver and passengers why they had thrown a firecracker at his friends earlier in the evening. Bright stated the other driver started to drive away and struck the right rear passenger door of the Ford. The driver of the Mazda then fled the scene and drove into the county. Bright said he called 911 and followed the Mazda, which lost control on a gravel road and struck several cornstalks. The car was stopped by Helmer at Manhattan Road and U.S. 40.

The driver of the Mazda, who was not identified in the report, was taken into custody for leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

* At 2:30 p.m. Saturday, a car hit a culvert on CR 1150 North.

Deputy Craig Sibbitt reported that James R. Simpson, 43, Roachdale, was driving east when he reached down to pick up a CD off the floor of his 2005 Pontiac. His car ran off the road and hit a culvert.

Damage was estimated at $10,000-$25,000.
