Putnam County Jail

Three people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* Brad P. Martin, 23, Greencastle, was booked in at 1:28 p.m. Tuesday for possession of marijuana. He was arrested by Greencastle Officer Bunten.

* Mark Alan Whitis, 51, Coatesville, was booked in at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday for interfering with reporting a crime, intimidation and domestic battery. He was arrested by Deputy Doug Nally.

* Rodney Joe Garrett, 21, Natalia, Texas, was booked in 2:25 a.m. Tuesday for attempt to commit murder, reckless driving and resisting law enforcement. He was arrested by Reserve Deputy Benjamin Pyatt.

Sheriff's Dept.

Three accidents were investigated recently by the Putnam County Sheriff's Dept.

* At 7:15 p.m. Monday, a sport utility vehicle flipped over on CR 1200 South near CR 500 West.

Deputy Doug Nally reported that Dallas E. Maynard, 22, Poland, was driving a 1989 Ford Bronco when he missed a curve in the road and struck some trees, flipping the vehicle onto its side.

Maynard was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Damage was estimated at $750-$1,000.

* 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, a vehicle hit a deer on CR 675 North.

Sgt. Tom Helmer reported that Douglas E. Hutchison, 45, 4585 E. CR 300 East, Fillmore, was driving west when a deer ran in front of his 2000 Jeep Cherokee and he was unable to avoid he animal.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

* At 11 p.m. Tuesday, a car hit a deer on CR 600 West.

Sgt. Helmer reported that Shaylynn D. Skene, 19, 5177 N. CR 600 West, Greencastle, was driving north in a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville when the deer ran in front of her vehicle and she was unable to avoid the animal.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

Correction

In the list of winners for the four-year-old girls category of the Pretty Baby Contest at the 2007 Putnam County Fair, the name of Mackenzie Starr was spelled incorrectly. She won Cutest Hair.
