Putnam County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

Charles William McCarty, 32, Greencastle, was booked in at 3:33 a.m. Monday for violation of home detention. He was arrested by Deputy Dwight Simmons.

Melanie Ann Estep, 29, Greencastle, was booked in at 1:49 p.m. Monday for theft and a petition to revoke probation. She was arrested by Greencastle Officer Darrel Bunten.

Three accidents were investigated recently by the Putnam County Sheriff

On Sunday, a vehicle hit a tree stump and a concrete culvert along CR 325 West in Washington Township.

Deputy Josh Boller reported that Steven R. Miller, 15, 907 N. Madison St., Greencastle, was driving south in a 1999 Chevrolet when he moved over to allow another vehicle to pass. His vehicle went off the road and hit a tree stump and culvert before stopping in a field.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

At 2:21 p.m. Friday, a car went off the road on U.S. 231 near CR 850 North.

Deputy Ronnie Campbell reported that Devon C. Jones, 18, 1357 W. CR 350 North, Greencastle, was driving home from work when he fell asleep at the wheel. His 1996 Honda Civic went off the road.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

At 9:39 a.m. Thursday, a car went off U.S. 231 south of U.S. 36.

Deputy Campbell reported that Cristen S. Black, 22, Brazil, said she had been working long hours and fell asleep at the wheel.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

City police

Greencastle police issued several traffic citations and investigated one accident recently.

Sgt. Charles Inman Jr. issued the following tickets:

At 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Sean Jones, 20, Fillmore, was ticketed on North Jackson Street for an expired plate.

At 8 p.m. Saturday, Cody Gibson, 22, Bainbridge, was ticketed on North Jackson Street for driving while suspended.

At 12:39 a.m. Sunday, Cody Duncan, 20, Coatesville, was ticketed at Shadowlawn and College avenues for false and fictitious registration and driving while suspended.

Officer Albert Epple issued one ticket:

At 8:05 a.m. Thursday to Scott Pasch, 39, Monrovia, on Bloomington Street for speeding 57 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Officer Travis DeLaGrange issued the following tickets:

At 9:35 a.m. Friday, Gloria Novy, 50, Coatesville, was ticketed on Round Barn Road for speeding 52 mph in a 30 mph zone.

At 6:10 p.m. Friday, Torie Hayes, 30, Fillmore, was ticketed on Bloomington Street for expired license plate and no financial responsibility.

At 4:05 p.m. Saturday, Jonathan Steele, 31, Greencastle, was ticketed on Round Barn Road for seatbelt violation.

At 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Mitchell Zoll, 23, Greencastle, was ticketed on Round Barn Road for driving left of center when not permitted.

At 7:10 p.m. Saturday, Timothy Fox, 22, Frankfort, was ticketed on Ind. 240 for no license in possession.

At 3:55 p.m. Sunday, Kenny Kennedy, 45, Greencastle, was ticketed on Bloomington Street for driving while suspended.

At 4:45 p.m. Sunday, John Carpenter, 18, Indianapolis, was ticketed on Bloomington Street for seatbelt violation.

At 5 p.m. Sunday, Robert D. Rollins, 45, Fairland, was ticketed on Bloomington Street for a seatbelt violation.

At 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Daniel Branham, 28, Greencastle, was ticketed on Bloomington Street for seatbelt violation.

At 6:25 p.m. Sunday, Wally Knight Jr., 54, Greencastle, was ticketed on East Franklin Street for a seatbelt violation.

At 7:05 p.m. Sunday, Brandon Query, 21, Greencastle, was ticketed on Round Barn Road for driving while suspended.

Meanwhile, at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, two vehicles collided on Indianapolis Road in front of Wendy

Officer Chris Helmer reported that Betty Foxx, 76, Greencastle, was driving a 1999 Plymouth Voyager and was pulling out of the Wendy

s lot when she did not see the eastbound 2007 Suzuki motorcycle driven by Malcom Summers, 37, Brazil. Summers braked and laid the motorcycle down on its side, sliding into the minivan. He had a cut on his head and road rash on his right arm and back.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.
