Mark Nogelmeier was recently nominated for the Excel Award, one of National City Bank's honors, designed to recognize and celebrate exceptional accomplishments and extraordinary people in their communities.

He was nominated in the category of "National City Heroes" and due to his nomination, was awarded with the honor of selecting a local organization that he was involved in and presenting that organization with a check for $250.

Nogelmeier selected the American Red Cross, Putnam County Unit with his donation. Receiving the donation was Putnam County Unit Coordinator Chasity Wood and Leadership Council Chair Ginger Scott.

Wood stated, "The American Red Cross Services and Disaster Aid is an outright gift, it is provided for by voluntary contributions from the American people. We don't get government funding ... We the Red Cross and the citizens of Putnam County are incredibly grateful that we have members of our community like Mark whom put great value into the services and resources we provide. All Red Cross disaster help is free and we would not be able provide that service in Putnam County if it weren't for generous donations such as Mark's."

Anyone wanting to make a donation to the American Red Cross, Putnam County unit can send a contribution to the American Red Cross, 209 W. Liberty St., Room 12, Greencastle, 46135. Make it to the attention of Chasity Wood.
