Paul Nauman (left) and Jeff Rich (right) were named Realtors of the Year for 2007 by the Putnam County Board of Realtors during the recent membership meeting. Tina Nicholson was selected as Affiliate of the Year.

The Putnam County Board of Realtors recently conducted its annual membership meeting and dinner at the Walden Inn in Greencastle.

More than 60 realtor and affiliate members and their guests attended the event, including Debbie Ziegler of the Away Home Shelter. Following dinner, Ziegler was presented with a check for $1,800. Teresa Adams, treasurer and golf chairperson, told Ziegler that the money had been raised during the Realtors Annual Golf Scramble earlier in the year.

Ziegler thanked the Association for their generous gift, noting that it was something unexpected. She said that the money came a great time, as she had recently learned that their funding had been cut by one of their regular contributors.

Awards chairperson Suzy Schneider read a poem that was written by the coworkers of the Affiliate of the Year award winner Tina Nicholson of Abstract & Title. Nicholson was chosen from several local Affiliates that were nominated by Realtor members. This new award strives to honor one Affiliate member each year for their support and participation in the local Association. Nicholson was congratulated on her award by 11 of her co-workers, and her husband Travis.

Paul Nauman of Collins/Evans Real Estate and Jeff Rich of Setty's Real Estate were named Co-Realtors of the Year for 2007. Prior to announcement, Schneider and Chasity Wood of the selection committee told the audience a little about the unnamed winner. Not only was the audience confused as to who the recipient was, so were the eventual winners! Paul suspected it was Jeff, and vice versa. Well it's no wonder, since they have a lot in common. Not only are they both realtors and grandfathers, they both drive school buses, and both can often be found running auctions on a Saturday morning (usually together).

Surrounded by wives, children, grandchildren and parents, both men spoke very highly of the other. Rich and Nauman offered thanks to their peers for selecting them to share in this prestigious honor.

Nominations for Realtor of the Year are open to all realtor members of the local association. Those nominated are then voted on. The member receiving the highest number of points is awarded the ROY title. The Local winner then goes on to compete in the statewide Realtor of the Year competition. That winner is announced at the Indiana Realtor of the Year Dinner during the fall conference in Indianapolis.

As a tribute to each of the Realtor of the Year award winners, the Board will donate $100 (per person) to the Putnam County Board of Realtors Scholarship fund, and $50 in honor of the Affiliate of the Year.
