Raymond J. Greve, 86, Greencastle, died Tuesday.

Born in Waveland, he was the son of Raymond T. and Verna Harder Greve.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served aboard the USS Nassau. He was a 1943 graduate of Wabash College where he played football and basketball and was inducted into the Wabash College Basketball Hall of Fame. He also attended Notre Dame for V7 flight training.

Greve was the former owner of Limedale Ditching Inc. and was a former director of First Citizens Bank.

He was a charter member of Windy Hill Country Club and was also a member of Greencastle Presbyterian Church, the American Legion and lifetime member of the Elks.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ruth E. Williams Greve; four daughters, Cindy Covert and husband Jim, Indianapolis, Terrie Colosino and husband Jim, Valparaiso, Jill Vietor, Plainfield, and Joan Earl and husband Bill, Greencastle; two brothers, Keith Greve, Greensburg, and Bill Greve, Indianapolis; three sisters, Edna Mae Jones, Venice, Fla., Joanne Bullerdick, Crawfordsville, and Phyllis Sullivan, Indianapolis; seven granddaughters, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Shane Good officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with an Elk's walkthrough at 7 p.m.
