CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale Clovers hosted the South Putnam Eagles in girls' golf Monday evening at Clover Meadows, with the Eagles coming away with a 194-230 victory.

Emily Zimmerman was medalist for the Eagles, shooting a six-over 42, with four pars, four bogies and a double bogey. Heather Hughes and Grace Aker came in with matching 48s for the Eagles. Chelsea Clark rounded out the South scoring with a 56.

Sophomore Kayla Langdon led the Clovers with a 52, her best score of the season. Paige Cassida was next with a 56. Kate Chambers shot a 59 and Elizabeth Wiley shot a 64. Wiley birdied the par three eleventh hole.

"We had some good shots and some good holes, but are too inconsistent to compete with South Putnam at this point in the season," Clover coach Ken Williams said.

The Clovers returned to the links at 4 p.m. yesterday at Crawfordsville. No score was available at press time. The Eagles are back in action tonight when they host Southmont at 4:30 p.m.

COUNTY GOLF ROUNDUP

Tiger Cubs fall

DARLINGTON -- The Greencastle Tiger Cubs girls' golf team dropped its match with North Montgomery, 178-248, Monday night on the road.

Dana Norman, who struggled on the day, brought in the low score for GHS with a 49. She was followed by Kelsey Murtagh with 60, Kristen Hucheson with 65 and Kristen Field with a 74. Diane Woukon did not play due to injury.

"Dana has had problems on courses with a large amount of out of bounds this year and that hurt her again today with three out of bounds," GHS coach Brad Kingma said. "Once she learns to get over that hurdle, she should be able to continue to shoot low like she did last week.

"This was Kelsey and Kristen Hucheson's first match in two weeks and each showed a large improvement. If they keep at it, I think they can shoot some good scores for us by the end of the year, he added."
