CRAWFORDSVILLE -- The Greencastle volleyball team traveled to Southmont Tuesday night and picked up the season's first win, 17-25, 25-19, 25-15, 26-24.

After a slow start and a yellow card, the Tiger Cubs pulled together to win three straight games and move their match record to 1-2.

Coach Trish Lowe called the win "a great team effort," noting six players had kills, five had aces, five had stuff blocks, and all eight players contributed at least one dig.

Olivia Miller led the team serving, going 15-for-15 and serving four aces. She also led the team with 13 kills.

Kayla Nobles led the team with 13 points. Kelsey Hennette contributed 20 assists, and Veronica Sawyer had 12 digs. Miller and Kristen Flint each had two stuff blocks.

The junior varsity lost, 13-25, 14-25, moving its record to 0-4.

Lowe was pleased with the effort, but her mind was already moving to the next match.

"I am thrilled with our improvement," she said. "We will have our work cut out for us (Wednesday) with Sullivan at home."

The Tiger Cubs host Sullivan at 6 p.m. tonight.
