GHS tennis wins at Rockville

ROCKVILLE -- The Greencastle boys' tennis team turned in a dominating performance over the home-standing Rox, winning 5-0 Wednesday evening.

The most competitive match of the night came at No. 2 doubles, where the team of Logan Grzesiek and Xander Hazel defeated Rockille's Trent Sauter and Dakota Baysinger 7-6, 4-6, 7-5.

"We won a really exciting three-set match at number two doubles," GHS coach Terry Ross said. It was Grzesiek's and Hazel's first win of the year.

Elsewhere, all three GHS singles players ran away with their matches. Greencastle's Sam Hirt defeated Barrett Jackson 6-3, 6-1. Brennan Burks won 6-1, 6-3 over R.J. Mahurin, and Eric Warren defeated Jacob Bryant 6-2, 6-2.

The No. 1 doubles team of Seth Heithaus and Tye Fauvergue defeated Rockville's Adam Powell and Chris Baysinger 6-4, 6-2.

The Tiger Cubs improved their record to 2-1 on the season. They will return to action at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Brown County Tourney.
