Ruby Brunst, 91, West Lafayette, died Thursday at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis

Born in Fincastle, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary Frances (Lawson) Riggle.

She graduated from Roachdale High School in 1934 and the same year married H. C. (Harry) Brunst of Ladoga. They owned and operated the Ladoga Meat Market for many years. She was also employed at the Ladoga Culvert Co. for several years. In 1963 she and her husband moved to Carmel. She retired from the Indiana Department of Motor Vehicles in December 1986. She was a member of the Ladoga Presbyterian and Orchard Park Presbyterian Church of Carmel. She was also member of the Ladoga and Carmel Tri Kappa Chapters and the Eastern Star in Ladoga.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1975. In 1998 she married Wayne Byrd (formerly of Ladoga) and they resided at West Lafayette.

She is survived by her husband Wayne; daughters Carol Kimmel and husband William, Clarksville, Md., Janet Kimmel, Noblesville, Lynn Behner and husband Dale, Cicero; two brothers, George Riggle and wife Verlana, Richmond, and Richard Riggle and wife Mary, Roachdale; and seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Ladoga Cemetery.

Visitation will befrom 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Servies & Morgan Funeral Home, Ladoga.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or St. Vincent's Hospice.
