Kick-A-Thon helps local Red Cross

Friday, August 24, 2007

The All-American Karate Academy is sponsoring a Kick-A-Thon to benefit the Putnam County Unit of the American Red Cross.

Students at the All-American Karate Academy are hoping to kick and break enough boards to raise money to help support the Red Cross, Putnam County Unit. The American Red Cross has been an important part of the fabric of Putnam County for many years, providing disaster relief services and educational programs to meet the evolving needs of an ever-changing population.

The Red Cross also helps individuals, families, businesses and communities stay prepared for emergencies by offering hundreds of lifesaving courses in Adult/Child/Infant CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding and Caregiving, as well as safety information and resources.

The event will be held in the parking lot of Ace Hardware and the Dollar General Store, located at 1320 Indianapolis Road from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. The American Red Cross has also partnered with several other organizations and businesses for this event.

The National Guard will provide a Rock Wall for children. Mill Pond Health Campus will be providing cookies and lemonade and Black Lumber will be providing all of the boards, and the Sheriff's Department will be there with one of their dogs.

Contact Chasity Wood at 720-1093 for more information about the event or The All-American Karate Academy. The Red Cross is not a governmental organization. Disaster aid and essential programs and services are funded by voluntary contributions from the American People.
