Iris Owens Hightland

Iris Irene Owens Hightland, 83, Fillmore, formerly of Ft. Pierce, Fla. and Dundalk, Md., died Tuesday, Aug. 28 at her residence.

Born in Tyler County, W. Va., she was the daughter of William M. and Orpha Darnell Owens. She married John Hightland, and he preceded her in death.

She had been a retail clerk at Hutzlers Brothers for 20 years before retiring.

Survivors include a son, Eugene A. Hightland and wife Nancy, Fillmore; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 in the mausoleum chapel at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Ft. Pierce.

Local arrangements are being handled by Hays Funeral Home, Coatesville, and Florida arrangements are being handled by Yates Funeral Home, Ft. Pierce.
