Charlene E. Cox, 56, Greencastle, died Friday evening at her residence.

Born in Terre Haute, she was the daughter of Gerald P. and Eileen (Fox) Yater.

She was a 1969 graduate of Reelsville High School.

She was in partnership with Central Insurance Agency and later was an agent for Old National Bank Insurance, and for Hayes Murphy and Sharp Insurance. She had previously worked at Windbreaker Co. in Brazil. She was a member of Kappa Delta Phi, Order of Eastern Star, Greencastle and the American Arabian Horse Association, and she volunteered at the Putnam County Museum.

She married Ronald Dale Cox in 1992. He survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Laurie Walker and husband Kyle, Greencastle; her mother, Eileen Yater, Greencastle; brother Gerald P. Yater Jr. and wife Libby, Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Chris Clark and husband Steven, Bentonville, Ark., and Donna Byrd and husband Adam, Greencastle; two stepchildren, Steven Cox and wife Jennifer, and Ronda Sue Parton, both of Greencastle; one grandson, four stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with burial in Putnamville Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Putnam County Museum, 1105 N. Jackson St., Greencastle.
