Lola J. Merkel

Lola J. Merkel, 52, West Lafayette, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Born in Lafayette, she was the daughter of William E. and Bernaldine (LaGuire) Merkel.

She had worked for Greenbrush Industries and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. She was a life resident of Lafayette and attended the Wabash Center.

Surviving are six brothers, William Merkel Jr. and wife Linda, Greencastle, Fred Merkel and wife Faye, Elmer Merkel and wife Patti and Jack Merkel and wife Sharon, all of Lafayette, Robert Merkel and wife Linda and Darrell Merkel and wife Cindy, all of West Lafayette; and three sisters, Phyllis Kesler, Lafayette, Helen Ogden and husband Clyde, Elwood, and Mary Melvin and husband Dennis, Jacksonville, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three nieces and a nephew.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Lutheran Church with Pastor David French officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel.
