Cloverdale Middle School sweeps Putnam County tournament at South Putnam

Cloverdale Middle School girls won the county cross country competition at South Putnam on Tuesday. Team members include (front, from left) Nikki Routh, Bailee Stevens, Adrianne Patterson, Amillia Nally, Courtney Hoff, Maddy Smith, (second row) Paige Sinks, Ashley Hacker, Sydney Shrum, Kourtney Hubbard, Maelynn Brown and Adrianna Freeland. Cloverdale won the team event with a perfect score of 15. Greencastle placed second, South Putnam was third and North Putnam did not have a team score.

The four county middle schools converged on South Putnam to compete in the Putnam County cross country tournament. Cloverdale won both events, with the boys' winning with a score of 22 and the girls' posting a perfect score of 15.

For the boys', Cloverdale's Ethan Maners led the way with a time of 11:14. Teammates Jourdan Smith ran a time of 11:57 and Bret Brumfield recorded a time of 12:18 to take the top three spots.

Rounding out the top five were North Putnam's Dalton Spear in fourth with a time of 12:28 and Tiger Cub runner Erik Norlin in fifth with a time of 12:39.

On the girls' side, Cloverdale took the top five spots en route to its perfect score.

Maelynn Brown was first to come across the line in a time of 12:28, with Nikki Routh finishing second in a time of 12:52. Ashley Hacker was third with a time of 13:06, Amilla Nally was fourth in the time of 12:08 and Sydney Shrum was fifth clocking a 13:10.

Cloverdale, Greencastle, North Putnam and South Putnam will compete at the conference meet at South Putnam at 4:30 p.m.
