Robert F. Kennedy Jr. addresses DePauw crowd

Son of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, environmental activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. addressed a full house at DePauw University's Kresge Auditorium Friday evening. His speech, which centered on his criticism of the Bush administration and its policies regarding the environment and the American news media, was part of the university's Discourse 2007. According to information provided at the speech, Kennedy Jr. was named one of TIME?magazine's Heroes for the Planet for efforts to restore the Hudson River. He is the author of the New York Times best seller titled "Crimes Against Nature." His articles have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times, to name a few. Kennedy told the crowd at DePauw that democracy and the environment go hand in hand. He called Bush the worst environmental president in history and criticized the media for its coverage of the issues.

In the interest of truth and giving a fair balance in a Discourse wouldn't it be appropriate for DePauw to also invite speakers who can present an alternative view to the global warming alarmists? Why not have an informative and revealing debate rather than a one-sided very liberal presentation? There is a great difference between education and indoctrination.

Dear Inigo,

the experts agree that "alarmist" is an inappropriate word in relation to the global warming issue as the experts have agreed it's a real problem. Most science writers don't even acknowledge the opponents so get with the science and figure out how to help solve the problem instead of being part of it! BTW is was a multi-dimensional weekend including of Mr. Kennedy's comments...quite educational and informative.
