Eugene Peters, 79, Crawfordsville, formerly of Russellville, died Tuesday at Ben Hur Nursing Home, Crawfordsville.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Henry and Willie (Walters) Peters. He married Iris E. Nipper on Aug. 16, 1947, in Punta Gorda, Fla., and she survives.

He attended Green Township High School in Judson and was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in Japan.

He retired from FMC Link-Belt Company in Indianapolis after 22 years, where he was a foundry worker.

He attended Grace Avenue Church of God, Crawfordsville.

Additional survivors include five sons, Donald E. Peters, John W. Peters, William F. Peters, James C. Peters and David Peters and wife Amy, all of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Marian Joyce Johnson and husband Roger, Crawfordsville; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Edith Nipper.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, with Rev. C.D. McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, New Market.

Visitation is noon until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
