It's time again for local businesses to break out the tinsel, lights and ornaments and get creative for the holidays.

The Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce is now accepting entries for the 2007 Spirit of Christmas Award.

Since 1984 the award has been presented to the local business whose holiday decorations have best captured the "Spirit of Christmas."

The traveling plaque will be presented at the Civic Leagues Lights of Love Ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at the Putnam County Courthouse.

Competing businesses must have their entry forms in no later than 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, and have their business windows decorated and ready for judging by 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26.

To be eligible for judging, entries may be made by sending the entry form to the Chamber of Commerce, 16 S. Jackson Street, Greencastle, or faxing it to 765-848-1015.

Businesses will be judged on the following criteria: Spirit of Christmas, Originality, AppropriateĀness for the business, Continuity of theme and Preparation and Effort.

The contest is open to any business in the Greencastle area. BusinesĀses do not have to be members of the Chamber of Commerce to participate.
