Ellsworth sponsors seminar

Wednesday, November 28, 2007

U.S. Congressman Brad Ellsworth is stopping at the Putnam County Hospital Thursday to help local seniors navigate the complex Medicare Part D prescription drug program.

Ellsworth is bringing experts in Medicare, the Social Security Administration, the State Health Insurance Assistance Program and Health Care Excel Inc. to town to answer questions about the Medicare prescription drug programs.

The town hall-style meeting will begin at noon Thursday and last for about an hour and a half, said Ellsworth's press secretary Liz Farrar.

The Eighth District Democrat sponsored the tour, which also stops in Evansville and Terre Haute, because seniors are currently in the middle of an open enrollment period for Medicare Part D. It began Nov. 15 and ends Dec. 31.

Ellsworth has received several calls from senior citizens who are having trouble figuring out the ins and outs of Medicare, Farrar said.
