Tucker named to Silver Anniversary team

On Dec. 3 the Indiana High School Basketball Hall of Fame announced its Silver Anniversary team and the late Chad Tucker of Cloverdale was among the members inducted.

New Mexico head coach Steve Alford joined Tucker, a 1983 graduate of Cloverdale High School, on the Silver Anniversary team.

Tucker finished his career at Cloverdale with 1,338 points. He is the school's third all-time leading scorer behind Rick Ford and Wabash's Chase Haltom.

Tucker went on to play at Butler, becoming the Bulldogs all-time leading scorer with 2,321 points. He was also voted Most Valuable Player three times, first team All-Conference and earned an Honorable Mention All-American in 1985.

Over his career at Butler, Tucker averaged 20.9 points at Butler's Hinkle Fieldhouse and 18.9 on the road. His career stats still rank him in the school's top 10 for scoring, rebounding, field goal shooting and free throw shooting. Tucker was also voted into the Butler University's Hall of Fame in 2007.

Joining Tucker will be former NBA players Tellis Frank, Craig Neal and Winston Garland.

Other members of the Silver Anniversary team were James Blackmon, Jerome Brewer, David (Wright) Corwin, Derrick Dowell, Russ Doyle, Darrin Fitzgerald, Scott Hicks, Chris and Mike Heineman, Brian Miles and Derrick Spight.

Also being inducted to the Hall will be officials Everett Campbell, Gene Marks and the late Birch Bayh, grandfather of current U.S. Senator Evan Bayh.

Tucker passed away in 1996.
