Greencastle Fire Dept.

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to five calls recently.

On Friday:

* At 5:41 p.m., firefighters provided a medical assist at 1226 S. Bloomington. They returned to the station at 5:45 p.m.

On Saturday:

* At 10:47 p.m., crews were dispatched for a medical assist on North CR 125 East. They returned to the station at 11:03 p.m.

* At 11:40 p.m., firefighters conducted a carbon monoxide investigation at 357 E. CR 300 South. They returned at 12 a.m. Sunday.

On Sunday:

* At 1:51 p.m., crews responded to a medical assist at 701 Maple. They returned at 1:59 p.m.

* At 4:57 p.m., firefighters responded to a smoke scare at 700 S CR 125 West. They returned to the station at 5:09 p.m.

City Police

One ticket and several accidents were investigated recently by the Greencastle Police Department.

* Heide Whitt, 25, Greencastle, was cited on 231 South for an expired license plate at 1 p.m. Dec. 13. She was ticketed by Officer Christopher Helmer.

Meanwhile, several accidents were also investigated.

* At 12:30 p.m. Dec. 13, a two-car collision resulted on 729 E Seminary Street.

Officer Darrel Bunten reported that Brittney Starr, 21, Reelsville, was attempting to park her 1994 Grand Am when she collided with a westbound 2005 Dodge Caravan, driven by Melissa Knipp, 28, Greencastle.

Damage was estimated at $2501-5000.

* At 1:10 p.m. Dec. 13, a collision resulted at the intersection of Indiana and Walnut.

Officer Christopher Helmer reported that a 2001 Chevrolet Impala driven by Mildred Butts, 89, Greencastle, pulled into the path of a 1994 Buick driven by Andrew Hiatt, 26, Greencastle. Butts stated that she stopped at the stop sign and proceeded into the intersection, failing to see Hiatt's vehicle.

Damage was estimated at $1001-2500.

* At 3:16 p.m. Dec. 13, a two-vehicle mishap occurred in the parking lot at Greencastle High School.

Officer Helmer reported that a 1987 Toyota driven by Jacob Neumann, 18, Greencastle, was in front of a 1998 Chevrolet driven by Austin Hutchison, 17, Greencastle. Neuman stated that his vehicle was about to die as it entered Percy Julian Drive from the parking lot. Neumann further stated that he put his vehicle into reverse, striking the vehicle driven by Hutcheson.

Damage was estimated at $1001-2500.
