Virginia G. Kendall, 88, Greencastle, formerly of Reelsville, died Tuesday at Asbury Towers Healthcare.

Born in Pleasant Gardens, she was the daughter of Edward and Velma (Hassler) Chews.

A graduate of Reelsville High Schooll, she had co-owned and operated with her husband, Kendall's Garage in Manhattan for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Reelsville United Methodist Church having served as treasurer, pianist, and Sunday school teacher for several years.

She married Frank Kendall on Oct. 9, 1941. He died on Dec. 19, 1980.

Survivors include her daughter, Memory Frost and husband Scott, Mt. Meridian; two sons, Ed Kendall and wife Martha, Manhattan, and Greg Kendall, California; sister June Wright, Florida; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Eileen Phillips, and brothers, Earl, Bill, Chester and Frank Chew.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Reelsville United Methodist Church with Revs. Willie Best and Phil Badger officiating. Burial will be in the Boone Hutcheson Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.
