Spay and neuter clinic planned for Cloverdale area
Putnam County pet owners will have a new outlet for low-cost spay and neuter services, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Nancy Ferguson.
Ferguson, who is from Gosport, is in the process of opening a clinic at 612 S. Main St. in Cloverdale. She talked about her project at the Cloverdale Plan Commission Thursday night.
The clinic, which has been primarily funded through private donations, has a target opening date of Feb. 1.
Ferguson, a 1985 Purdue graduate, told the BannerGraphic she was pleased with the local community's acceptance of her endeavor.
"Everyone's just been wonderful," she said.
The Putnam County location is ideal, according to Ferguson, because of its proximity to surrounding counties where there is a need for a clinic of this nature.
Ferguson will also be offering a wellness clinic on Fridays for dogs, cats and rabbits. The wellness clinic will focus on low-cost vaccinations and heart worm control.
Additional funding is being sought through grants from Pet Smart Charities, The U.S. Humane Society, and the Putnam County Foundation.
