Tests to show how Greencastle man died

Friday, January 11, 2008

The Putnam County Coroner's Office is awaiting toxicology results on a Greencastle man who was found dead inside his home on Wednesday morning.

Deputy Coroner Brian Hopkins told the BannerGraphic Thursday that relatives of 48-year-old Terry York found him in bed and reported him unconscious. According to dispatch reports, the call was made shortly after 10:30 a.m.

Medics from Operation Life were called and responded to York's home at 6088 W. CR 25 North, near Greencastle. The coroner's office was notified to respond at around 11:15 a.m., Hopkins said.

York's body was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for an autopsy and toxicology exam, which were scheduled to take place on Thursday.

Hopkins said it typically takes two to three weeks for those results to be returned from the lab. Until then, the cause is being classified as undetermined.

Meanwhile, a death investigation was conducted by law enforcement officials at York's home and according to Hopkins, the death is not considered suspicious.

"We didn't see any signs of foul play," Hopkins said.
