Tigers rally for win over Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Trailing by three at the intermission, 13th-ranked DePauw opened the second half with a 13-0 run and held on for a 70-63 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win at Colorado College.

DePauw improved to 12-3 overall and 5-0 in the SCAC, while Colorado College dropped to 7-7 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

The visiting Tigers led by as many as five twice in the first half, but Colorado College took its first lead at 22-21 with 8:28 left. DePauw held a 36-35 advantage on Jenna Fernandez's basket with 2:32 left before the hosts scored the final four points of the half for a 39-36 lead.

Fernandez opened the second half with a layup before Kalei Lowes followed with a jumper and Emily Marshall scored the next five to make it 45-39. Gretchen Haehl knocked down a jumper and Lowes made two free throws to extend the lead to 49-39 with 13:47 left.

Colorado College closed to within three on two occasions with the final coming on Melanie Auguste's baseline jumper which made it 61-58 with 2:35 left. Haehl nailed a three with 2:13 left to push the lead back to six and the Tigers hit all six of their free throws in the final minute to preserve the win.

Lowes and Haehl each scored 13 in the win, while Marshall posted her second career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Fernandez grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds in the victory as DePauw held a 47-35 edge on the boards. Haehl dished out seven assists.

Auguste paced Colorado College with 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while Liz Kolbe and Paige Whitney each scored 14.
