A hydraulic excavator belonging to Hurley Contracting rests precariously on its side after plunging into the basement portion of a tear-down at 316 N. Jackson St. No injuries were reported in the accident. The building is being demolished to make way for a new veterinary clinic.

  • It is evident that the operator was not working in a safe manner.Looking at the angle of the cab and the axis of the track this is one lucky person.Makes you worder if proper training was given by this company. as per OSHA requirments?

  • It is true a picture is worth a 1000 words but I will not need that many.

    This is a prime example of just because you can obtain equipment or even just a key you can not use some people and the word operator in the same sentence.

    Where was the safety people that qualified this person to get in the seat.

    People looking for someone to do work for them should keep pictures like these to remind them what you usually get with the lowest bid.

  • The lack of safety at this job site speaks volumns about this contractor. Caution tape should be placed around all open holes at a construction site. Every time I drove past this site this weekend and so far this week, all I saw was a basement sized hole with no caution tape around it at all.

    Shouldn't someone in an official capacity have noticed this as well?
