Cougar freshmen defeat Clovers

CLOVEDALE -- North Putnam took the road south to face Cloverdale in freshmen action Monday. The Cougars came away on top with a 38-35.

Payne Stewart led the way for North with 16 points on the night. Jacob Lucas and Garrett Porter followed with nine points and Jared Fordice and Tommy Welch contributed two points each.

Cougar head coach Steve Peek acknowledged that the momentum North Putnam seized in the second quarter carried over into the third and help give them an eight-point cushion entering the final period of play.

The Cougars will travel to Cascade at 6 p.m. Thursday.
