North girls' JV downs Speedway

BAINBRIDGE -- With only five players in uniform Monday night, the North Putnam girls' junior varsity basketball team defeated Speedway 30-24.

The lack of bodies tied coach Jonathan Shannon's hands, as he could not go man-to-man.

"We came out and had to play a zone the whole game," Shannon said. "We did a nice job hustling, which was nice to see.

"I'm really proud of them," he continued.

The Cougars led much of the way, stretching the lead from three to six in the fourth quarter.

Megan Robinson led North with 17 points. Brianna Bryan was next with eight.

The Cougars conclude their season against South Putnam Thursday.

"We're looking forward to another county matchup and getting our final win of the season," Shannon said.
