Victor R. Sawyer

Victor R. Sawyer, 86, Crawfordsville, died Saturday at Ben Hur Nursing Home.

Born at Brazil, he was the son of Otto and Ocie (Thomas) Sawyer.

He was a farmer in Putnam and Parke counties. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the 10th Mountain Division from 1942-44.

He married Wilma Jean Webster on Sept. 26, 1948 at Crawfordsville. She survives.

Also surviving are three sisters, Lorene Miller, Lafayette, Dorothy Roberson, Indianapolis, and Reba Clifton, Dover, Del.

He was preceded in death by sister Amy Stevenson and brothers Rosco, Merril and Orville Sawyer.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Machledt and Servies Funeral Home, Waveland, with Rev. Lester Niles officiating. Burial will be in Hebrom Cemetery, Russellville.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
