Tuesday, February 19, 2008

The eighth-ranked DePauw women's' basketball team entered their game against South Central Athletic Confer-ence rival Centre at Neal Field House Saturday afternoon hoping to remain unbeaten in the SCAC.

The Tigers overpowered Centre in every category of the game on both ends of the floor, and earned their 43rd consecutive victory at home, 85-51.

"It was a good team win for us and it was nice to send the seniors out with a game like that," commented DePauw head coach Kris Huffman after the game.

"I thought we defended pretty well, and had good team defense and got to the glass, and those are two things we always want to do."

"In the second half, we loosened up and played some nice offense," added Huffman.

DePauw had four players scoring double figures, Katie Mathews with 15, Cassie Pruzin with 14, Emily Marshall with 13, and Jenna Fernandez with 10.

Kalei Lowes followed with seven, Andrea Travelstead with six, Gwen Haehl had five, Adadrea Chaney added four, Lauren Goff scored three, and Gretchen Haehl, Courtney Lauer, Kristin Barrow, and Sarah Merkel closed out the Tiger scoring with two points each.

Pruzin had a double-double by grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds, and a game-high seven assists, and Fernandez had a game-high five steals.

This was the final home game for seniors Lowes, Chaney, Gretchen and Gwen Haehl.

The Tigers (20-3, 12-0 SCAC) travel to Sewanee Friday night. The game begins at 6:00 PM CST.
