Boys' sectional pairings announced

The IHSAA drew for the sectional pairings in the 2008 Boys' Basketball State Tournament Sunday night. The four Putnam County schools all drew teams to which they lost in the regular season.

In the Class 2A South Putnam Sectional, Cloverdale will play Speedway in game two, which is slated for approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26. On Feb. 1, the Clovers dropped a 58-51 decision to the Sparkplugs at Speedway.

The winner of game two will take on the winner of the Covenant Christian and Monrovia sectional opener in the first semifinal. The semifinal will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29.

On Wednesday, the host Eagles will open the action against Tri-West in game three. When the two teams met on Jan. 19, the Bruins came out on top 66-42.

Following game three, North Putnam will meet Cascade in game four. On Dec. 14, the Cadets defeated the Cougars 60-47.

The winners of games three and four will meet at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the second semifinal.

At the Class 3A Edgewood sectional, Greencastle will take on second-ranked Edgewood in game three at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27. When the two squads meet on Jan. 12, Edgewood was the 73-58 victor.

The winner of game three will take on the winner of the South Vermillion and West Vigo game in the second semifinal. The game will tip at approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29.

In both sectionals, the championship game will be played at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1.
