Dwight L. Smith

Dwight L. Smith, 73, Russellville, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Seton Hospital, Lafayette.

Born in Putnam County, he was the son of Joseph and Sallie (Lewis) Smith.

He was a farmer in Putnam County, having owned farms at the site of the Heritage Lake Dam and the Floyd Center School. He did custom farm work around Heritage Lake and custodial work at Cascade High School. He also volunteered as groundskeeper of the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Greencastle.

Survivors include his brother, Loren Smith, Russellville; a sister, Wilma Becker Crosby and husband William, Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Harold and Orval Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Paul Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
